About The Anglers Retreat

The Anglers Retreat is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our award winning public house is known for good food, beer, wine and a warm welcoming atmosphere.

We try to use fresh local produce. Try our homemade wild goose casserole, local asparagus with granary bread freshly baked in Chesham and wonderful homemade meat pies. There's an extensive menu with something for everyone, special dietary needs included. Look for our value for money Christmas menu.

We are listed in the “Good Beer Guide”, “Good Pub Food Guide” and “Real Ale Guide”. We keep a good selection of wines and beers including locally brewed ales and hold two beer festivals festivals every year to promote these.

Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome and all will enjoy the aviary and pets corner.

We are within easy reach of Heathrow and Luton and close to London, Oxford & the Cotswolds.

What our Customers say...

“Arrived after working 7 locks, in the rain, on my own. Stumbled into a PROPER Pub, complete with open fire and a friendly bunch including a parrot!!!

Ordered HOME MADE beef stew and dumplings which arrived promptly and WAS home made and truly scrumptious...

I shall certainly recommend this little treasure to fellow boaters..! Great value too..

Such a change from those gastro pubs with their pretentious /expensive 'drizzles' and 'hints of'... If you require an honest, cosy pub, head to the Anglers!!”

What our Customers say...

“A friend and I stayed overnight at Anglers Retreat, with a rather last-minute booking. From the moment we walked in the pub we were made to feel welcome and that our comfort was important. Pauline was very warm and friendly, and when we met her husband the next day he was the same. The staff all smiled and said hello, which was very nice. We had a cozy night above the pub and whatever we wanted for breakfast the next morning. We had to leave, but I would have liked another night at Anglers Retreat!”
